Women’s Day is round the corner and several associations, hotels and NGOs have lined up a series of events. The Inner Wheel Club has planned an adventure event wherin women would climb a hill and decend using the support of ropes on Sunday.
The Mahanati Savithri Sahitya -Samskruthika Kalapeetham is going to felicitate writer Padmavati Sarma for being conferred with California United Theological Research University doctorate, followed by 12 other women who contributed to the cultural, literary and social aspects of the city.
A programme titled ‘Zara Masti-Zara Dhoom’ is to be held at Vedika function hall on Women’s Day has programmes by renowned stage, television artistes. “Performances of Jabarasath comedians, TV artistes Srinivas, Sailaja, a music show by singer Smita, Amibka Krishna, T R Satyanarayana, Chef Sanjay Thumma are going to be part of the event.
The entry fee is Rs 500 per head. A cooking competition will also be organised for the enthusiasts,” said one of the organiser Dara Karunasri. Several hotels in the city have special offers for the day. Shabul Hussain, general manager of Hotel Gateway said, “We would offer some exciting options for our loyal customers who love to try different dishes. There will be some activities planned as well.”
Malls in the city too have lined up events to woo women. The activities include mehendi application and women oriented skits. The market is flooded with different kinds of gifts that define the relationship of mother and child, the charm of being a woman and a mother in quotations, photo frames and figurines. For those who can afford, branded jewellery in precious gems and metals, accessories are available on good deals as well.
