Prior to YS Jagan Mohan Reddy announcing the nominee to the post of PAC Chairman, Jyothula Nehru was believed to have communicated to Jagan that he expected to be nominated to the prestigious post without fail.
Nehru apparently also told Jagan that appointing a Kapu leader at this juncture to the post will send out the right signals to that community.
Naturally, he was completely taken aback when Jagan appointed Rajendranath Reddy as PAC Chairman.
YSRCP insiders say that Jagan felt that the PAC post should be manned by someone with the right expertise and not be allotted along casteist lines.
Jagan seriously felt that Jyothula would not be able to do justice to the position. This is yet another occasion when Jagan is facing dissent for doing the right thing rather than what is politically right.
On the loan waiver issue prior to the elections, YS Jagan despite repeated entreaties said he would not promise loan waiver because it was not economically feasible. And now, in deciding to appoint a capable man as PAC Chairman, he has angered senior politicians of his Party.
