Post recent exodus of leaders from YSRCP to TDP, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy is now busy making arrangements to strengthen the party. For a change, Jagan wants to give importance to leaders from Kamma community.
Inside buzz is that Jagan is keen on roping in more Kammas into the party. While he's eyeing to rope in Devineni Nehru from Vijayawada, his bete noire and present YSRCP leader Vangaveeti Radha is strongly opposing. With this, Jagan asked Radha to bring in other strong leaders from Kamma community into the party which baffled many. At the same time, Jagan is said to be giving more importance within the party to Kodali Nani who is also from Kamma community. Though it's surprising for party leaders, political pundits are considering the move as tactic move by Jagan.
Jagan wants to send signals that he is not a leader for Reddy community but he wants to position himself as leader cutting across castes and religions. While Jagan's key strengths are Reddys and people of Rayalaseema, Jagan is now focusing on gaining strength in Kosta. It may be recalled that Jagan has already joined Botsa Satyanarayana from Kapu community which holds sway in coastal districts. Now Jagan eyes Kammas who are ruling the roost despite with limited population as they're the wealthier lot in the state and could influence the public mandate in big way.
However it needs to be seen how far this caste equation saves YSRCP which is a sinking ship. Will Jagan impresses Kammas or will he just end up losing Reddy's which is his base. Only time will tell.
