Hyderabad: Promising basic amenities in all municipal corporations and municipalities in the state on the lines of the GHMC, Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao on Saturday warned of stringent action against corrupt officials in municipal, water works and other civic wings. The CM reviewed the municipal administration and urban development department including water works along with ministers K.T. Rama Rao, Etala Rajender and Indra Karan Reddy and senior officials, and mayor Bonthu Rammohan here on Saturday, where he told officials to prepare plans for construction of one lakh 2BHK houses in GHMC limits.
“There is rampant corruption in municipal corporations, municipalities, metro water works, town planning and other wings in civic departments. You have to take immediate action to curb this menace. Take stringent action against the corrupt. An indicator of good administration is when people get necessary permissions from municipalities without having to pay bribes,” he said. Telling officials to ensure integration of drinking water pipe network in every municipality under Mission Bhagiratha scheme, Mr Rao said 190 villages along the ORR should also be provided drinking water.
Irrespective of revenues, Warangal, Khammam, Karimnagar, Nizamabad and Ramagundem municipal corporations should be developed. Government would provide special grant if needed, he said. He asked officials to link MGNREGS with rural development and take necessary action in this regard. He said Warangal would be next IT hub after Hyderabad and the government would encourage new IT companies to set base there in view of Hyderabad reaching saturation point.
