Taking a jibe at the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) row, the Rastriya Swayamsevek Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat on Thursday rued the fact that there are “people” these days “who have to be told to praise their own mother nation”.
Addressing a gathering in Nagpur, Mr. Bhagwat did not name the university, however, he said, “The time has come today that Bharat Mata Ki Jai (Hail mother India) has to be taught or told to some people of this generation. It should be inherent and natural.”
“But these things are to be told these days. Because now we have people who tell (the students) not to say this (Bharat Mata Ki Jay).
Such people are more visible today and it is time now that we should think about it,” stated the RSS boss in an apparent reference to the recent JNU events in which some JNU students were arrested by Delhi police for raising alleged anti-national and seditious slogans and speeches.
