A 50-year-old man attempted suicide by immolating himself in the Hyderabad High Court premises on Friday. The man, Shankar, sustained 15 per cent burns and is stable.
According to Charminar police, Shankar was holding a patta land in Serlingampally granted by the then government, but he could not build a house and sought help from the Housing Board. He had approached the civil court in this connection and the court ruled in his favour. Even after that the construction was delayed. Officials said he attempted suicide in the HC to get noticed. Sources said he had attempted suicide earlier also.
