Hyderabad: "I am switching the party as guided by my mind and soul. There are no other reasons behind this," said D Srinivas, former PCC president.

After submitting his resignation letter to AICC chief Sonia Gandhi, he held a press meet here on Thursday.

He said he is joining Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) not for power or posts, but for the welfare of backward and downtrodden people.

Speaking about Congress, Srinivas said he worked for the party with committment. He served the party in several posts and worked hard for separate Telangana formation. It is true and everybody knows that Telangana was formed only because of Sonia Gandhi, but it was KCR who toiled most for it, he added.

Srinivas wished the new State, Telangana to tread in the way of development. Youth are hopeful of getting jobs. He gave a call to all to work for the development of Telangana State irrespective of parties.

'We will invite Sonia Gandhi for a State tour. Workshops will be held with Congress senior leaders,' he said. Srinivas felt that it was not proper to take one-sided decision on Polavaram and a decision that will be beneficial to the four States should be taken.
