The presence of pro-Andhra journalists in the Telangana media accreditation and health cards committee has triggered a controversy.
At the meeting convened by Telangana Press Academy Chairman Allam Narayana on Wednesday, there were wild protests against the presence of Andhra media in the Telangana committee.
The Telangana journalists questioned the presence of Sakshi editorial director K Ramachandra Murthy, who is considered to be anti-Telangana and the management of the daily itself was against the formation of Telangana.
Similarly, T Venkata Krishna of HMTV hails from coastal Andhra and was known for his opposition for Telangana formation when he was heading the TV5. So is the case with C R Gowrishankar, who represents Deccan Chronicle which is also a strong opponent of Telangana.
“How can they represent the Telangana journalists, who had faced humiliations during the Telangana movement?” they argued.
The Telangana journalists are now accusing Chief Minister of K Chandrasekhar Rao of favouring Seemandhra investors and business people, ignoring the real Telangana people.
“In fact, there was some respect to us during the united AP government at least because of the Telangana movement,” they lamented.
