Guntur: State Chief Electoral Officer Bhanwar Lal has directed all Election Returning Officers to complete the process of linkage of voter card with Aadhaar, by May 15. Addressing a review meeting of all electoral officers and later the local media at the ZP hall here on Saturday, Bhanwar Lal said that he was happy that voter-Aadhaar cards linkage was completed in Vemuru Assembly constituency and hoped the same would be completed in 16 other constituencies by May 15.

He said rural voters are ahead of the linkage program compared to their urban counterparts. Since most of the voters are usually not available during day time, the election personnel should reach them in the evening by going door-to-door. He advised booth level officers to carry forms 6, 7 and 8(a) forms along with them so that voters, who don’t have cards, can fill them on the spot.

He asked voters to rectify errors in electoral lists by taking such errors to the attention of booth level officer. The CEO also asked representatives of political parties to bring to his notice of any discrepancies in the voters list or any issue to his notice, for correction.

Bhanwar Lal said that out of 6.54 crore voters in AP and Telangana, the linkage programme for four crore voters had been completed. The remaining 2.54 crore voters would be covered by May 15. Joint Collector Cherukuri Sridhar and other officials were present.
