VIJAYAWADA: Chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu will inaugurate the prestigious world aqua expo here on Friday.
The three-day expo titled 'Aqua Aquaria' is being organized by the Marine Products Exports Development Authority (MPEDA).
Speaking to reporters here on Thursday, MPEDA chairperson Leena Nair said that the show was aimed at exposing the aqua farmers and farmers growing ornamental fish to the latest technologies in the sector across the globe. She said that field visits by the experts who practiced better management practices was also arranged as part of the show.
She said that latest innovations in equipment, machineries and use of mobile, internet technology in the farmers would also be demonstrated. She explained that L.Vannamei shrip farm, tilapia farm, Scampi farm and several other species of fresh water fish farm and marine, ornamental fishes in the pond and cement lakes were also identified for field visits to give the farmers hand-on-approach.
"Undoubtedly, Aqua Aquaria is one of the best expos on marine products in the world as 30 internationally acclaimed experts are coming to share their knowledge with the fish farmers," claimed Leena Nair.
She said that they have decided to organise the show in AP to benefit the local farmers as the biggest producers of the marine products in the country. She said that of the total 5 billion dollars of marine products exported last year, nearly 2.5 billion dollar stock was from India. She said that they have already exported 4.7 billion dollar seafood during the current financial year with a growth rate of 11.84 percent over previous year.
She said that they would surpass Rs.30000 crore turnover in exports by the end of current financial year. She said that more than 300 stalls would be set up at the exhibition in which 150 would be domestic and remaining by the international firms. MPEDA officials Ramesh, Sree Kumar, Dr.S. Kandan, were also present.
