The role of Bhumana Karunakar Reddy, former MLA, is strongly suspected behind the large-scale violence reported in Tuni following the Kapu Unity Roar meeting held by community leader Mudragada Padmanabham.
The trigger for the violence and arson was, however, said to be Padmanabham's assertion, "Let us now hit the streets to settle the issue.' He had told so to the meeting held in coconut gardens in Tuni.
In the large-scale violence, Tuni police station was attacked along with another police station and Ratnachal Express was set on fire.
The TDP had all along been alleging the YCP hand in the violence. In fact, the TDP had forced Padmanabham to say that there was no hand of YCP leader Jaganmohan Reddy in the violence. If Jagan hand was there, Padmanabham vowed to quit politics.
Now the police are finding a link of Karunkar Reddy in the Tuni violence.
Many cases have since been filed against Kapu leaders.
Padmanabham insisted that the cases be withdrawn and Kapu Corporation loans extended to the Kapu leaders for a final settlement of the issue. Otherwise, he would go again on indefinite fast.
