Film star and Hindupur MLA Nandamuri Balakrishna kicked off a major storm when he made a few controversial and sexist remarks against women during the audio launch event of Nara Rohith's Savitri.
There has been a huge hue and cry over Balayya's comments with the opposition leaders targeting him and Chandrababu ahead of the women's day celebrations. To control the damage, the TDP issued a public apology on behalf of Balakrishna in which Balayya said his words were taken out of context and that he has always had respect for women.
Speaking during the assembly sessions today, Balayya once again apologized to those who may have been hurt by his comments and reiterated that he paved red carpet for women in his films like no other stars did.
Balayya also said that everyone on the stage and in the audiences enjoyed his comments during the audio launch and that others who misunderstood his words should talk to the guests at the audio launch to know the actual truth. Balayya further said he was only talking about his characters in films and not in general.
