Havana (Cuba): The first letter from the United States of America to the island nation of Cuba reached its destination in Havana, and was sent by President Barack Obama himself.
The President was replying to a mail sent by Cuban national Ileana Yarza, 76. The latter had invited him for a cup of Cuban coffee when he visits the country on Sunday. Overjoyed that the mail not only reached Washington but was personally responded to by the President himself, Ileana said she did not open the letter immediately but waited for all relatives to comeover.
"Thank you for your kind words," the President wrote. He also added, "I am looking forward to visiting Havana to foster this relationship and highlight our shared values – and, hopefully, I will have time to enjoy a cup of Cuban coffee."
The visit by Barrack Obama also marks the first by a sitting American president since 1928. All mail services between Cuba and United States were discontinued after a mail bomb from America reached Cuba in 1968.
