In a move which bring cheer to small-budget filmmakers, the Telangana government is toying with the idea of adding one more show to the existing 'daily 4 shows' system across all the theatres in the new state.
The move is to facilitate theatres for small-budget films which are struggling to get enough theatres to showcase the films. However, the 5th show would be added on the condition that only a small-budget film would be screened as the 5th show. Telangana sub-committee too recommended that the 5th show must be a small-ticket film. At the same time, the committee has also increased the present limit of 30 theatres to 50 theatres for a small-budget film.
Though this demand has been there since longtime, the new state Telangana is contemplating to make it a reality soon. For the meeting, big wigs from Telugu film industry including Dasari Narayana Rao, Daggubati Suresh Babu, Murali Mohan, Tammareddy Bharadwaj, Shankar were present to give their suggestions to the committee.
On other hand, the committee has also approved the decision to allot 9 acres of land in Chitrapuri colony for construction of houses for cine workers. It also approved to set up Hyderabad TV & Film Institute in the vicinity of the city.
