In the recently concluded GHMC elections, the ruling TRS party created history by winning 99 seats out of 150, and trounced its rival parties. However, the complete details of the election results released by the election commission shocked many of the TRS cadres and sympathisers, who are celebrating this historic victory.
Out of the 150 seats it contested, TRS lost deposits in as many as 15 divisions showcasing the anti-incumbency prevailing among the GHMC voters. On the other hand, the MIM party, which contested in limited seats, saw 10 of its candidates losing deposits.
While TDP, which stood second in 86 divisions lost deposits in 36 divisions, its alliance party BJP lost its deposits in 20 divisions. Congress' situation is pitiful to say the least with as many 126 of its candidates losing deposits. Lok Satta and BSP lost their deposits in 25 and 55 divisions respectively. Low voter turnout is said to be the main reason behind these shocking figures.
