Jagan demands CBI inquiry; TDP demands YCP to prove allegations

The culture of challenges and counter-challenges is continuing in the Andhra Pradesh State Assembly. On Monday, Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, too, got into the act.

Leader of the opposition, Jaganmohan Reddy, of the YCP, had alleged that there was a scam of Rs 7000 crore in exploiting solar energy by the State.

Seizing the opportunity, the Chief Minister said Jagan should prove his charge or apologise to the House. Jagan had also made corruption charge in regard to the Krishnapatnam project.

He should prove both the charges here and now or apologise.

Jagan retorted that the two charges were among the 22 he had made against the TDP government in all. Therefore, there should be a CBI inquiry into the whole affair.

Till Jagan brought in the proof from the House or outside, there would not be further debate in the House. The Speaker should act accordingly in the matter, chief Minister added.

Minister Achchen Naidu, who intervened, said there was no release of tenders even, so how could there be corruption in solar energy. Jagan, if he had guts and was male, should prove his charges or apologise.

All the while, Jagan was smiling in his seat, while the TDP leaders were getting worked up.

Chandrababu got so worked up that he said he would defang Jagan.

Jagan said as he had made 22 charges against the TDP government, he would demand a CBI inquiry into the scams of the government.
