Hyderabad: The AP government has challenged the verdict given by the High Court on the ownership rights of the Andhra Pradesh State Council of Higher Education (APSCHE). It files a petition in the Supreme Court on Monday stating that the High Court verdict is unconstitutional and hence need to be stayed.
The High Court, in its recent verdict has stated that the APSCHE’s existence in separate Telangana state can’t be recognized because there was no mention about it or any guidelines to follow in the AP Reorganization Bill. So, the High Court declares that APSCHE belongs to the Telangana government only and the AP government has no rights on it.
Telangana government immediately takes over the APSCHE including its buildings, its employees and even its huge bank reserves that were controlled by the AP government so far.
The High Court verdict comes as big shock to the AP government. It was in dilemma for a while on how to react on it. Finally, it challenges the High Court verdict in the Supreme Court on Monday. The Supreme Court is likely to take up the case on Tuesday.
