Hyderabad: The Necklace Road Lake police rescued two women on Monday who were planning to commit suicide.
The police identified the first woman as Rajini, 42, a resident of Mettuguda. She attempted suicide as she could not get alcohol. Police said, “She stood on the upper tank bund and was trying to jump into Hussainsagar. The woman is habituated to alcohol consumption. Unable to bear the nuisance created by her, the family drove her out 15 days ago.”
In the second case the police identified the person as Narasamma, 40, a resident of Panjagutta. She had a live-in relationship with her cousin Ramakrishna. When the family came to know about this, they filed a complaint in court.
“She got depressed due to the fear of losing her relationship with Ramakrishna and jumped into the lake to commit suicide,” police said.
“We rescued both women and after counselling handed them over to their families,” said inspector Sreedevi.
