Karimnagar: With the objective of promoting adult education and to achieve total literacy, the Saakshar Bharat Mission has chosen six villages for 'Model Adult Education Centres' under Lok Shiksha Samiti in the Karimnagar district. Adult education aims at extending educational options to those adults, who have lost the opportunity and have crossed the age of formal education, but now feel a need for learning of any type, including literacy, basic education, skill development and equivalency. At present in the district one adult education centre functions in every village.

The learners and the adults who are coming to Saakshar Bharat centres and adult education centres are provided with newspapers, playing material and story books.

To create further interest in them and to achieve total literacy 'Model Adult Education Centres' are going to be established by Saakshar Bharat Mission. Primarily six villages are chosen in the district for Model Adult Education Centres with 19 various types of materials required for the purpose.

CHOSEN VILLAGES:

Under Lok Shiksha Samiti in the district, Choulamadhy village of Metpalli mandal, Gambhirpur village of Kathalapur mandal, Veernapalli, Eligedu, Velgatur,Gangadhar villages of Ellareddypet mandal are chosen for 'Model Adult Education Centres.' Materials worth Rs 1.84 lakh are allotted for Model Adult Education Centres. These materials consist of mega-phone, amplifier, desktop Computer, Computer chair, 32" LED Television set, 30 chairs, Weighing machine, two fans, water filter, drums, charts and  other items.

To achieve total literacy by creating interest in the learners, a series of programmes are going to be introduced to non-literates for the different age groups in a time-bound manner by the Saakshar Bharat Mission in Model Adult Education Centres.
