New Delhi: Claiming that the three social security schemes launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi will give those working in the unorganised sector "a sense of security", the Aam Aadmi Party government on Saturday said it would promote the initiatives in Delhi.

The schemes Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana and Atal Pension Yojana were simultaneously launched at the Delhi Secretariat, which was among 115 locations across the country.

Delhi Health Minister Satyendra Jain, who was speaking in New Delhi during the live broadcast of the launch of three schemes by the Prime Minister in Kolkata, said, "So far poor people do not even know the meaning of the word 'insurance', it would be first experience for them. We support these schemes and will promote in Delhi so that poor people and those working in unorganised sector can take benefit of these schemes."

"Insurance of Rs 2 lakh by paying only Re 1 a month is a great scheme for poor. People working in unorganised section can now expect some money under pension scheme after they retire. This will give them a sense of security and money will help them in future," Jain said.

Live broadcast of the event at the Delhi Secretariat was attended by Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Rajiv Pratap Rudy and BJP MP Meenakshi Lekhi, besides bankers and insurance company officials.

Sharing his earlier experience, Rudy said, "During my college days I was actively working in Bihar, when a fire broke out in shanties. However, the state government then had insured these shanties through the medium of GIC but many kids got burn injuries. I thought of helping them in getting compensation but despite making all the efforts for six months I could not get compensation for them due to various rules made by the government."

"I always feel that people have resentment against politicians and used to feel that my political career got wasted. But launch of such scheme shows positive mindset of politician and will help in making people believe in political system," Rudy said.

Claiming it to be the biggest pension and insurance scheme of the world, Rudy said, " I feel proud that I am working with a man (Narendra Modi) who thinks about each and every citizen of the country who had been ignored for the last 60 years. Having a bank account was beyond a poor man's dream and now 15 crore people have accounts."

Officials also gave insurance certificates and felicitated new applicants of these schemes at the function.
