One of the prestigious projects taken up by Telangana Government is the Water Grid Project which is going to cost Rs 25,000 crore in a span of 5 years is one of the prestigious projects taken up by Telangana Government. KCR, while making the announcement in Assembly in November last year, pledged that if his government fails to accomplish the mission, TRS wouldn't contest the next General Elections in 2019.
On February 14, tendors were called by the Telangana Government to take up works worth Rs 1,000 crore for the first phase of water grid project. But shockingly, no major contractors came forward; others who applied were inexperienced which resulted in the Government cancelling the tenders without notice.
The Government is likely to issue fresh tendors with new guidelines to restrict the inexperienced. But a positive development came through with Jindal Group – India’s largest supplier of Pipes coming forward for the Water Grid Project to supply pipes. For about 1.27 lakh km, water pipelines have to be spread and a huge amount of land should be acquired from the private parties for this project.
