Farmer commits suicide in Chitradurga district

Unable to pay the debt, a farmer has committed suicide by consuming poison at Koralkunte village in Challakere taluk of the district.

The deceased has been identified as Srikant (30). According police sources, the farmer had cultivated tomato in his three acres land by borrowing a sum of Rs 2 lakhs from moneylenders. The crop had failed to owing to adverse climatic conditions. A case has been registered in Challakere police station.
