Telangana Joint Action Committee (JAC) convenor Prof.Kodandaram felt the need to form a Farmers JAC in Telangana state to highlight of plight of people dependant on the farming sector.
Participating in the protest organised by Telangana Rythu Rakshana Samiti (TRRS), Prof Kodandaram said there is severe drought in Telangana districts due to lack of adequate rainfall. He pointed out Banks weren't extending loans inspite of assurance from the State Government and farmers were committing suicides after losing hope.
Prof.Kodandaram placed the demand of compensation to the tune of Rs 10,000 for crop loss & Rs 50,000 as loan per acre before the TRS Government. He also hints forming of Farmers JAC soon.
TRRS chief Pakala Srihari Rao blames State and Central Governments for not taking any measures to give a ray of hope to farmers. He informs at least 1,000 farmers were committing suicides every year in the state
