Hyderabad: The University of Hyderabad (UoH) students' union on Wednesday demanded revocation of increased hostel fee. Students' union president Zuhail Khan said that the latest hike in hostel fee would be a huge burden on students coming from poorer sections of the society.
"The fees were hiked from Rs 300 to Rs 500 for SC/ST students, from Rs 400 to Rs 1,000 for OBC students and from Rs 800 to Rs 1,000 for the general students," he rued calling for the withdrawal of the decision.
Zuhail also demanded that the last date of applications for availing hostel facilities should be extended. Students pursuing their master programmes opined that after getting signatures from the respective department heads, they should be allowed to stay back in hostel so that they do not have to look out for accommodation elsewhere.
