AIIMS to come up at Mangalagiri in Guntur

The suspense over establishing of an All India Institute of Medical Sciences at Mangalagiri with the Minister for Medical and Health Kamineni Srinivas and Minister for Agriculture Prathipati Pulla Rao announced of establishing it in Mangalagiri.

The ministers said that the foundation stone would be laid on May 14, 2015 by the Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu who will be visiting on May 14 and 15 in the district. Union Ministers JP Nadda, Dr M Venkaiah Naidu will participate in the function, they said.

The estimated cost for AIIMS is Rs.1500 crores and there will be 960 beds, 600 MBBS seats and 360 B.Sc. nursing seats. They said that it will be a milestone in medical field. The expert team from the centre visited in the last February and had come to conclusion that the TB sanatorium is an idle place for AIIMS. It may be recalled that the Centre has announced of this and has released Rs.200 crore as the first instalment. When it operational, it will the first referral hospital in the State.
