Governor E S L Narasimhan today lambasted the DGPs of both Telangana and Andhra Pradesh on the issue of policemen clashing and lathi charging each other at Nagarjuna sagar dam site.
Minutes before the conclave of chief ministers of both the states with him, the Governor took the DGPs to task for not properly handling the situation and allowing the occasion to blow up unnecessary. "This happened only because of the indifference and negligence of the top officials who failed to grasp the gravity of the situation," he said sort of admonishing them.
Governor's word of counsel and wisdom might affect the federal spirit as the law and order was domain of the states only, though the centre had appointed him as the joint Governor for both the states. "More than the water row, the police clash had become more predominant in public domain," he quipped.
Following Governor's counselling the police has taken a rigid position and banned presence of any non officials, non-police at the dam site. A large number of forces have gathered on both sides of the Dam and the state borders presenting a war like scenario between Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
As a result of water row and police congregation, the farmers and civilians of both the border districts of Guntur (AP) and Nalgonda (Telengana) are also arriving in large numbers in the morning in the wake of the meeting of the CMs at Raj Bhavan. But on directions of the Governor, the public and farmers were dispersed twice from the border regions, say eye witnesses.
