Mission Kakatiya

Telangana State BJP unit alleged that the Mission Kakatiya programme has been transformed into a ‘pink publicity project’.

As part of their inspection of the Mission Kakatiya works for the third consecutive day, BJP Telangana leaders K Laxman and others toured Ranga Reddy district on Monday.

They inspected the renovation works at several tanks in Saroornagar mandal in the district. Later, speaking to media persons at Balapur, Laxman said the BJP supports the restoration of tanks as it would provide irrigation and drinking water to the state. “But, we insist on transparency in the implementation of works since precious public money should not be misused,” he said.

Restoration of tanks does not just mean removing silt from the tanks, but strengthening of the intake and outgoing channels and bunds, Laxman said. “Tanks at one village should be linked with tanks in the neighbouring village. But, these works have not started yet,” he pointed out.

The project does not include the participation of local fishermen, farmers, women and others, the BJP leader said and alleged that the tanks with 30 to 80 acres have not been included under the Mission Kakatiya programme.
