Hyderabad: NRIs from Dallas donated $2 lakh to the Telangana Water Grid and Mission Kakatiya schemes. Information technology minister K.T. Rama Rao addressed NRIs in Dallas on Sunday. He also organised a ‘Vibrant Hyderabad’ event to showcase the advantages of investing in Hyderabad’s IT and other sectors.
On the fourth day of his US visit Mr Rao arrived in Dallas from Pittsburgh. He addressed an investors’ meet in Dallas. He urged investors to set up industries in TS and assured them of single window clearances within two weeks without any problems of graft and hassles.
He explained the salient features of the new TS industrial policy (TS-iPASS) and said it is the best industrial policy in India and that it gives approvals based on self-certification. Mr Rao also attended a programme organised by “ITServe Alliance”, an association of 150 IT firms in the US. He gave a power-point presentation on the incentives offered by the TS government to IT firms in the SME sector.
He said the TS government could successfully overcome power shortage within a year and expressed confidence that TS would become a power-surplus state within four years and uninterrupted quality power supply would be provided to all companies. Mr Rao said the TS government is all set to inaugurate a “T-Hub” soon, which would be the country’s largest start-up incubation centre.
It will come up at IIIT-Hyderabad in Gachibowli. He said the centre is coming in a 60,000 square feet plot. It will have a five-floor building designed by W Design Studio and will be part of the first phase of T Hub initiative and is expected to become operational by June. When fully functional, it can host 400 start-ups and is expected to generate 3,000 jobs by 2017. “T Hub would also serve as an incubator of incubators. Our target is also to have at least 10 incubators by end 2017,” he said.
