Police took into custody six suspected SIMI activists hailing from Madhya Pradesh. According to reports, the police are interrogating them at a secret destination. On receiving information that the six suspected persons were proceeding from Tirupati, the police took them into custody at Bommalasatram near Nandyal town within the Allagada subdivision. Security has been tightened in the Allagadda sub-division.
Earlier, the police, who could not recognise them while they were inspecting the vehicles near Sirivillametta at the Kadapa-Kurnool national highway, allowed them to proceed. But later, on the basis of a phone call, they were taken into custody. The police taking SIMI suspects into custody at Nandyal came close on the heels of gunning down two SIMI activists on Saturday in Nalgonda.
