New Delhi: Hitting back at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi over his “suit-boot ki sarkar” jibe, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said “suit-boot is definitely more acceptable than suitcase.”
Mr Modi said that after ruling the country for 60 years, the Congress has “suddenly remembered the poor.” Mr Modi also asserted that “any discrimination or violence against any community will not be tolerated.”
“Suit-boot is definitely more acceptable than suitcase. After ruling for 60 years, the Congress has suddenly remembered the poor. The people of this country have suffered and remained poor due to the short-sighted policies of the Congress,” he said in an interview to ANI. The Congress vice-president had recently termed the Modi-led government as a “suit-boot ki sarkar.”
Mr Modi sought to know from the Congress whether the coal and spectrum scandals or the CWG fiasco benefited the poor. “Everyone knows who were the beneficiaries, some chosen industrialists and contractors,” he said.
