Opposition leader Gita Reddy, who rushed to the podium along with her Congress colleagues twice earlier in the day, sat in the Chair of the Telangana Assembly for some time on Saturday.
Gita Reddy, former Health Minister, is in the Speaker's panel. For some time, she was requested to take up the Chair by Padma Devender Reddy, and she obliged.
Under the rules of the House, along with the election of the Speaker and the Deputy Speaker, a panel of Seven speakers from both the sides of the House is selected for taking the Chair on occasions. It was Gita Reddy's turn on Saturday when Deputy Speaker was in the Chair.
The Speaker, Madhusudanachary, did not attend the House today on account of ill-health.
