KCR lashes out Congress, MIM over varsity issues

With the Congress and MIM repeatedly demanding discussion on the Osmania and Hyderabad Central universities protests in the Telangana Assembly on Saturday, the House was adjourned after the members surrounded the Speaker's podium.

As the House resumed, Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao criticized the Opposition parties for not following rules in the Assembly and stated that they could not demand a discussion against the rules. Reacting strongly against Congress leader K Jana Reddy and MIM legislator Akbaruddin Owaisi in particular, KCR said that the government is aware of how to deal with such situations.

Despite KCR intervening in the matter, the members once again surrounded the Speaker podium following which the House was adjourned.

Earlier, Akbaruddin Owaisi demanded the arrest of Hyderabad Central University Vice-Chancellor Appa Rao and action against the police officials who resorted to physical violence on the students. He also urged the release of the students immediately and pointed out that the happenings in the University are not fair but the TRS government should not be blamed for it.

Telangana Congress chief Uttam Kumar Reddy accused TRS government's involvement in the arrest of several students of HCU along with the attack on Congress MLA Sampath's car in Osmania University and demanded the release of the students.
