Visakhapatnam: Union Minister for Law and Justice D V Sadananda Gowda told the Parliament that the a separate High Court for Andhra Pradesh could be considered only after the present High Court gives its verdict on the case filed on separate court. He also stated that no judicial impact assessment has been done either. The high court would be located at Amaravathi.
The minister was replying to a question raised by Anakapalle Lok Sabha member M Srinivasa Rao during the ongoing budget session on Thursday. Further, the Minister said judicial impact assessment was conducted neither in Andhra Pradesh or other states because the Committee has given only the report. The observations of the Committee have been forwarded to the various Chief Justices of various High Courts and to Chief Ministers of various states.
He said people were finding it very difficult to go to the High Court located in Hyderabad. Even people from Telangana are also asking for a separate High Court. Two years were already over, yet there was no proposal on High Court, he added. If the High Court comes up at Amaravati, it might upset the people of Rayalasema who have been demanding that it be located at Kurnool.
