The death of Malayalam actor Kalabhavan Mani (45), who was introduced to Tollywood, is of suspicious nature, according to the Kochi police who are investigating into the case. He died on March 6.
Mani's wife has been saying that that it was not suicide and that she had doubts. She had said there were no marital problems between them. But she admitted that Mani had the habit of drinking with friends. When he had no problems, why would he commit suicide, she questioned.
The police forensic tests have found traces of insecticide, ethanol and methanol in Mani's body.
The tests further showed that there were traces of Chlorpyrifos in his body. The insecticide is largely used in agriculture. This made the police to register the case as one of unnatural death.
Mani started as mimicri artiste and grew up to cinema with debut as autodriver in `Akhsharam.' He earned name as character artiste. In 2000, he won the National and Special Jury awards. He then acted in several Tamil films as anti-hero.
