Hyderabad: TDP seems to have intensified its attempt to attract large number of second rung leaders of YSRCP from Kadapa, the home district of the leader of opposition Y S Jaganmohan Reddy. According to party insiders, the TDP general secretary Nara Lokesh has been entrusted with the job of talking to the leaders, who could be admitted into the party.
Lokesh would be visiting Kadapa on Wednesday. During his two-day stay he will hold meetings with local TDP leaders and work out strategy to lure YSRCP leaders. It should be noted that YSRCP is strong in eight assembly segments in Kadapa.It is learnt that the focus of Lokesh would be on the Kadapa Muncipal Corporation and the Kadapa Zilla Parishad members where YSRCP has hold.
Out of 50 corporators in the Kadapa Municipal Corporation, 42 are held by YSRCP. Interestingly, Kadapa deputy mayor Arifullah said he has decided to join the TDP. Talking to media, he said, “Despite being a deputy mayor, I am unable to get even small development work sanctioned in the corporation that has a majority of YSRCP corporators. Hence, I have decided to quit the YSRCP to join the TDP. Many more YSRC corporators are going to follow me in the coming days.”
