Andhra pradesh state Minister for HRD Ganta Srinivasa Rao inaugurated an urban stock point at Arilova. The sand from East and West Godavari and Srikakulam and Vizianagaram districts is being transported to the stock point and will also be delivered at the doorstep in 36 hours after payment has been made at Mee Seva centres. Sand from the stock point would be supplied to the six zones of GVMC, Anakapalle and Bheemunipatnam.

"Members of DWCRA have lived up to the confidence reposed in them by the Chief Minister in successfully marketing sand and earning Rs. 600 crore during the last three months, the rates would be revised after a week’s observation." the minister said.

Meanwhile. the Vizag District Collector N. Yuvaraj said from hardly Rs.2 crore a year from sand, in the last three months alone Rs.3.5 crore was earned.
