Eight contractors get notice,Quthbullapur police,GHMC head office
Hyderabad: The deputy commissioner of Quthbullapur circle on Monday issued notices to eight contractors for alleged corruption. The contractors, in collusion with outsourced staff, alleged withdrew up to Rs 41 lakh for various development works that were not completed. Rs 41 lakh was found missing from the official account and during an internal inquiry, officials found that the amount had been paid to the contractors for the development works meant to be carried out in the Quthbullapur area.
However, in reality the works were not done. Officials say that outsourced staff at the Enterprise Resource Planning wing colluded with the outsourced staff at the GHMC head office and withdrew the funds by using the officials’ passwords.
“The outsourced staff had the ERP login through which payments are authorised. They colluded with the contractors and diverted the funds.
They teamed up with the audit staff at the GHMC head office and covered up the missing funds,” said deputy commissioner Ms Mamta.
Officials, however, denied the allegations. “I am not concerned with the sanction of funds. The executive engineer looks into these matters,” added Ms Mamta.
The executive engineer was unavailable for comment. Based on a complaint, the police has registered a case against two outsourced staff, Mr Lingam from the Quthbullapur office and Mr Upender from the GHMC head office.
