Hyderabad: The Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) on Monday announced constitution of “Government Performance Observation Committee” (GPOC) to highlight the failures of the State government.  The TPCC under the guidance of the AICC appointed former Speaker K R Suresh Reddy as GPOC Chairman. As many as 17 members drawn from all 10 districts would be made members in the committee.

The GPOC would concentrate on select subjects of public interest and study the issues in depth. The failures of the government would be highlighted and placed before the people for debate, TPCC president N Uttam Kumar Reddy told reporters here on Monday.  Uttam Kumar Reddy said several provisions in the AP Reorganisation Act, which were particularly beneficial to the people in the State, were ignored.

The State government had failed to pursue the establishment of rail coach factory at Kazipet, steel factory at Bayyaram and the subject of financial incentive to the State by taking up the issues with the Centre, he said. Apart from it, several promises made by the TRS party during the elections remained unfulfilled even after more than a year in the office.

“The committee will focus on identifying the reasons for failure of the government in fulfilling the promises and its failure to pursue the proposals made in the Bifurcation Act,” said Uttam Kumar. Suresh Reddy said it was more than a year since the government was formed, but it had failed to push forward the proposals made in the Bifurcation Act. There was no visible development. The Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao was targeting other political parties. “Time will prove if KCR is antique collector or scrap dealer,” he said.
