In a bid to spread love and brotherhood among the global citizens, Pope Francis on Thursday washed and kissed the feet of 12 refugees from several countries belonging to Christianity, Islam and Hinduism, including an Indian, during an Easter week mass with asylum seekers at a shelter outside of Rome.
The Pope declared them children of the same god and expressed his solidarity with other religions in the times when there has been a growing animosity towards Islam due to the ongoing violence. The Pope described the recent terror attacks in Brussels as a gesture of war carried out by bloodthirsty people.
"We have different cultures and traditions but we are brothers and we want to live in peace," the Pope said addressing the refugees. The Pope personally received all the asylum-seekers present at the event and even clicked selfies with the refugees.
Among the 12 refugees whose feet were washed by the Pope were 4 Catholics from Nigeria, 3 Muslims from Mali, Syria and Pakistan and a Hindu from India.
