YSRCP chief and Leader of the Opposition in AP Assembly YS Jagan Mohan Reddy in AP Assembly on Saturday slammed the TDP Government over the increase in power charges. Jagan alleged that even though the current is available for a lesser rate, the government is increasing the pressure on people by purchasing it at a higher rate.
Reminding that the former Chief Minister YS Rajasekhar Reddy who was in power for five years had not increased the power charges, Jagan stated that Chandrababu Naidu has increased charges for nine times during his nine-year tenure. He further said that the Central Energy Exchange is opposing the proposal of Andhra Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Committee (APERC) and questioned the proposal on the hike of electricity charges.
Condemning Jagan's charges, Minister Achchen Naidu said that the current availability was bad when TDP assumed power, however, the government has managed to overcome the situation. The Minister chided Jagan for stating that the government would buy power at a higher rate when it is would be available for a lesser rate and added that the government was ready to buy power from him if he were to offer power at a lesser rate.
Achchen Naidu even responded to the no hike of charges in the YSR rule and read out the details as when the charges were hiked during the Congress governance.
