The YSR Congress served privilege notices on Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and three of his Cabinet colleagues on Friday.
In the notice submitted to the Legislature Secretary K. Satyanarayana Rao, the YSRC alleged that the Chief Minister and Ministers — K. Atchan Naidu, Devineni Umamaheswara Rao, and Kamineni Srinivas — made abusive remarks against its members during the debate on the motion of thanks to Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan’s address to the joint session of the legislature.
The Ministers made disparaging remarks against Leader of the Opposition Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy as well as several other YSRC MLAs in the House, the party alleged.
Meanwhile, an emergency meeting of the Privileges Committee of the Legislative Assembly has reportedly been convened on Saturday.
The meeting is expected to discuss the developments relating to suspension of YSR Congress MLA R.K. Roja and the interim order given by the single Judge.
It assumes significance as the Judge made it clear that his order would not preclude the House from taking any appropriate action pursuant to the pending privilege proceedings against Ms. Roja.
