TDP leader Karnam Balram warned CM Chandrababu over YCP defections

Telugu Desam Party senior leader Karanam Balaram has warned the Telugu Desam Party leadership and Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu that there is danger to them by encouraging defections from the YCP either for the party or for the party in certain regions.

In an interview to a TV channel, Balaram said he expected the party to consult him if Gottipati, YCP MLA, wanted to join the ruling party.

He said there were dangers lurking by inducing the YCP MLAs to join the ruling party. In this connection, he refuted the rumours that the ties he had with Chandrababu Naidu had snapped. The relations were as they were 30 years ago.

Significantly, Balaram said if danger was anticipated from opponents, you need to take steps in advance. He said he had never made a mistake. All the cases against him had been struck down.

Asked about kidnaps in Ongole district, he said how was he responsible if someone were to take up sanyas (renouncing the world).

If you want to keep your following, you will have to do things which one would not do normally. This did not mean one was committing a crime, he added.

At the same time, Balaram added that there was no truth in the rumours that he was joining the YCP (because Gottipati was coming to TDP). But he could not tell what the future was going to hold out for him. But soon he would be 70 years old.
