MIM plans to expand its base outside telugu states by contesting elections in other states. The party which has recently contested on Bihar elections announced that it will contest the upcoming Tamilnadu State Assembly elections. The party might field candidates in three to four constituencies.
The party is contemplating to field its candidates from Veniyambadi is a predominantly Muslim neighborhood. AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi is scheduled to address a public meeting in Veniyambadi sometime in April.
In the 2014 Telangana Legislative Assembly elections, the AIMIM won seven seats and received recognition as a 'state party' by the Election Commission of India.The party won two seats in the 2014 Maharashtra Legislative Assembly election and emerged as the second largest party in the Aurangabad municipal elections.
