The demise of US Supreme court Justice Antonin Scalia raised a scuffle between the Democrats and the Republicans to decide whether US President Obama can nominate for a new justice, in his last year of tenure. Obama declared and announced his right to nominate a replacement for Antonin Scalia.
Sri Srinivasan, an Indian born who is currently the US Circuit judge of the US Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia is all set to succeed the past judge of Supreme Court. Srinivasan would be the first foreign-born justice of Supreme Court in last 50 years. There was one Australian born Felix Frankfurter who retired as Supreme court justice in 1962 in the US.
Srinivasan would be the first Hindu on a bench with five Catholics and three Jews. Many law-professors and law experts mention Srinivasan's abilities in intellect and writing and they even stressed that he could be the potential replacement for Justice Antonin Scalia in every way.
