Even before the people of Haryana could come out of the violence that took place during the Jat reservation agitations, a shocking news of at least 10 gangrapes during the agitation is rattling the entire state. The Haryana government has formed a 3-member committee to probe reports of gangrapes near Sonipat during the agitation.
Leading news daily The Tribune reported that the gang-rapes took place on the Haryana-Delhi highway when around 30 men dragged the women out of cars and took them to nearby fields and tortured them. However, no victim has filed a complaint and promoting the Punjab and Haryana high court to take the case as suo moto and initiated the probe.
The news daily also reported that the victims were rescued and given shelter by the nearby villagers in Hasanpur and Kurad villages. The state government has also set up a helpline number for victims and witnessed to come forward and share evidence.
