Karimnagar: A 19 year-old teenager committed suicide after he got repeated phone calls from police on Wednesday night in Peddapalli in Karimnagar district.
Deceased Kallepalli Ashish Kumar was studying in ITI in Hanamkonda in Warangal district. After completing his annual exams recently, Ashish was staying at a hostel along with his friends in Hanamkonda. Ashish came to his parents’ place in Peddapalli on Wednesday. The same night, Ashish allegedly got several calls from police saying he had to come to police station for interrogation because a case had been filed against him in Hanamkonda.
“Police made several calls to Ashish repeatedly on Wednesday night. They were threatening my son over the phone that he should attend for an interrogation at the police station in Hanamkonda," his parents said.
Frightened by the calls from the police, Ashish Kumar went out of the house on Thursday morning and committed suicide at a local railway track, said the parents. Police had seized a suicide note which read ‘goodbye friends’ at the spot.
The parents of the teenager alleged that their son committed suicide only because of the threatening calls from the police. Some Dalit leaders also said that they are going to complain at Human Rights Commission against the police for forcing the boy to commit suicide.
