A minor fire due to short circuit in the L-Block of State Secretariat here on Friday sent the security and the fire personnel into a tizzy. Sudden smoke emanated from the second floor of the L-Block, which houses the Chief Minister's Office (CMO). The security personnel posted on duty at the building immediately alerted their bosses. The chief security officer sent an SOS to the fire wing who immediately jumped to duty and extinguished the fire.
It was stated that a minor short circuit in the Welfare Department caused the fire. However, in minutes another similar mishap was reported from the fourth floor and the fire engines present there put out the flames.
