Hyderabad: The Singapore government will submit the master plan for the new capital city of Andhra Pradesh on May 25, confirmed sources in the AP Municipal and Urban Development department on Monday.
After the master plan is submitted, the AP government will issue a notification by the end of May, calling for objections. The government will give one month’s time for sending objections, from June 1 to 30. The final notification will be issued in the first week of July.
The Singapore government will submit a separate master plan for seed capital between June 19 and 15. Till date, the AP Capital Region Development Authority has pooled about 15,000 acre of land with clear agreements with landowners. Agreements for another 15,000 acre are under process and would be completed by the end of May.
Farmers owning around 500 acre of land who are against land pooling, have approached the courts and the government might have to take their land under the Land Acquisition Act. A senior Municipal Administration department official said, “After completion of agreements, the CRDA will have 30,000 acre. We think that another 800 acre might be needed. If necessary, we will acquire the land under the Land Acquisition Act”.
