YSRCP stir on Parliament premises for Special Status

New Delhi: The YSRCP MPs here on Tuesday staged a sit-in on Parliament premises, demanding that Special Status be accorded for Andhra Pradesh. Led by their Parliamentary Party leader, Mekapati Rajamohan Reddy, five other MPs of the party Y V Subba Reddy, Mithun Reddy, Y S Avinash Reddy, Varaprasad Rao and B Renuka, raised slogans near the Gandhi.

Later during the special mentions, Rajamohan Reddy urged the government to keep its promise. He said as the then Prime Minister , Dr Manmohan Singh,  during the debate on the State Reorganisation Bill in Rajya Sabha, had promised to confer Special Status on AP on the floor of Rajya Sabha.

The BJP Mps too insisted that special status should be given to the State. He pointed out that the State was facing a deficit budget of Rs 16,000 crore.  It also needed to build a capital of its own, he said.
