Hyderabad: Wearing a wrist watch to the Telangana State Engineering, Agriculture and Medical Common Entrance-2015 (Eamcet-2015) Test would land you in trouble. The Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University-Hyderabad (JNTU-H) which is conducting the test said besides mobile phones, calculators, mathematical/ log tables, electronic gadgets even wrist watches will not be allowed into the examination centres.  

The examination is scheduled on May 14. JNTU-H Registrar and Eamcet Convener NV Ramana Rao said tight measures have been taken in order to checkmate malpractice in the exams. Students will be barred from the examinations centres if they wear watches also, he made it clear.

Rao said that jammers would be installed at problematic examination centres. Addresses and phone numbers of the candidates who have applied with Rs 5000 and Rs 10,000 late fee were provided to the intelligence department. The university has ordered a police enquiry on 100 candidates aged above 35 who applied for the test. He stated that Eamcet will be held in a fair and transparent manner, and the ranks of candidates are given purely on merit basis.

A total of 2,31,998 candidates registered for the Eamcet-2015. Out of them, 1,39,636 registered for engineering and 92,362 for agriculture & medical streams. Rao said number of applicants for engineering stream increased by 20,000 and 40,000 for medical stream this year. For smooth conduct of the test, the JNTU-H has arranged 423 centres across the State. Engineering exam will be held from 10 am to 1 pm and medical exam from 2.30 pm to 5.30 pm.

Rao made it clear that students would not be allowed into the examination centre even they are late even by a minute. In the wake of RTC employee strike, Telangana State Council of Higher Education Chairman Prof. T Papi appealed to the students to reach the examination centre by 8.30 am for engineering entrance and 12.30 pm for medical examination to avoid last minute rush. The Eamcet Convener said 300 special buses would be on roads for ferrying students to the examination centres.
